The Customer’s Journey to Scalable SAP Governance with Incture 

Our customer is an American multinational healthcare organization focused on Innovative Medicine and MedTech. As part of their digital transformation journey, they began leveraging SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) with a limited set of services for integration and application development. 

Over time, their landscape expanded significantly, with more than 35 SAP BTP services deployed globally across 50+ subaccounts. In parallel, they operated over 30 SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA systems. With SAP Solution Manager nearing end of life, the need for a unified, transparent, and compliant governance framework across the SAP ecosystem became critical. 

To address this complexity, the organization partnered with Incture to establish an integrated, scalable governance model that ensures efficiency, standardization, and end-to-end lifecycle visibility.

Challenge:

Scaling Governance in a Rapidly Expanding SAP Landscape

The organization initially focused on managing the intake of requests for SAP BTP services and estimating CPEA credit consumption to avoid unexpected costs. However, as the SAP landscape expanded, the scope evolved to include governance across the entire lifecycle. 

This expansion exposed several challenges. The existing processes required significant manual effort, with redundant data entry across multiple tools used throughout the Req2Deploy lifecycle. Critical information was often maintained in disconnected formats such as Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint, resulting in limited standardization and poor visibility for stakeholders. 

Additionally, the absence of a unified lifecycle management solution made it difficult to ensure consistency, traceability, and compliance across projects. The organization needed a solution that could seamlessly integrate tools spanning requirements gathering, technology assessment, cost estimation, development, testing, deployment, approvals, and audit tracking while enabling flexibility at the project level. 

Solution:

Enabling Unified Governance with an Integrated SAP Toolchain

Incture implemented a custom CAPM-based application built on SAP BTP Cloud Foundry and powered by SAP HANA Cloud to unify governance and lifecycle management across the SAP ecosystem. 

The solution seamlessly integrates with key enterprise tools, including SAP LeanIX, SAP Integration Assessment, SAP Cloud ALM (CALM), and JIRA. Additionally, existing integrations between ServiceNow and SAP LeanIX ensure synchronization of application configuration items. This integrated toolset enables a single point of data entry, which is automatically synchronized across multiple systems, eliminating redundancy and improving data accuracy.

Project teams now operate within a standardized development lifecycle framework while retaining flexibility through project-specific approval rules and groups. 

The solution also delivers a consistent user interface and centralized access to information, significantly improving the user experience. Enhanced traceability through audit trails and change logs ensures transparency and compliance across all stages of the lifecycle.

Transforming SAP Delivery with Transparency and Efficiency

By implementing a unified governance framework, the organization achieved significant improvements in operational efficiency, compliance, and user experience. 

The introduction of a single data entry point and controlled synchronization eliminated redundant efforts and ensured consistency across systems. Standardized processes and a unified interface streamlined collaboration across teams, while centralized access to information improved decision-making. 

Enhanced traceability, including audit trails and change logs, strengthened governance and reduced audit findings. Automation of key process steps increased Full Self Processing, reducing manual intervention and improving data quality. 

Overall, Incture’s solution enabled the organization to scale its SAP landscape with confidence, ensuring transparent, compliant, and efficient delivery across its global operations.Â
