Overcoming Manual Sales Order Processing Bottlenecks at Scale

The customer faced significant challenges in managing a high volume of sales orders originating from unstructured data sources such as PDFs, faxes, and scanned images. These formats made data extraction and validation complex, resulting in frequent delays, supply disruptions, and customer dissatisfaction. 

In Europe alone, nearly 50,000 sales orders per month were processed manually. This labor-intensive approach increased dependency on human intervention, extended processing timelines, and heightened the risk of errors. The lack of automation limited the organization’s ability to meet growing demand while maintaining accuracy and service-level commitments. To address these challenges, the customer needed a scalable, automated solution that could seamlessly integrate with their SAP landscape. 

Solution:

Intelligent Sales Order Automation with OCR and SAP Build Process Automation 

The customer implemented an automated sales order creation solution leveraging Optical Character Recognition (OCR) combined with SAP Build Process Automation. This approach enabled automated extraction of order details from unstructured documents, followed by intelligent validation and direct posting into SAP systems. 

The solution streamlined the end-to-end order lifecycle by significantly reducing manual touchpoints and ensuring data consistency across systems. Sales orders could now be processed in less than 30 minutes, enabling faster downstream fulfillment and improved responsiveness to customer needs.
