Transforming Integration into a Strategic Advantage with SAP Integration Suite for a leading global performance brand

The Customer’s Journey to Integration Simplification and Innovation with Incture  

Our customer is a leading global performance brand specializing in athletic apparel, footwear, and accessories. As part of their Intelligent Enterprise journey, they set out to modernize their integration landscape to enable greater agility, scalability, and innovation across their digital ecosystem. 

Over time, their integration environment had evolved into a complex mix of platforms including SAP PI/PO, Dell Boomi, SAP CPI (Neo), and MuleSoft, each introduced to address specific project needs. While functional, this fragmented approach led to rising costs, operational inefficiencies, and limited flexibility in supporting business growth across commerce, supply chain, and finance systems. 

To overcome these challenges, the customer partnered with Incture to consolidate and modernize their integration strategy by migrating to SAP Integration Suite on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).

Challenge:

Overcoming Integration Fragmentation to Enable Scalable and Cost-Effective Operations

The customer’s integration landscape had grown increasingly complex, with multiple platforms introduced over time to meet evolving business needs. This resulted in four distinct integration tools, each requiring separate licensing, infrastructure, and specialized skill sets. 

Maintaining multiple platforms created operational inefficiencies, increased total cost of ownership, and fragmented governance. MuleSoft, while effective for API management, proved costly at an enterprise scale. At the same time, existing platforms such as SAP PI/PO and SAP CPI (Neo) were approaching end-of-support timelines, adding urgency to the need for transformation. 

Additionally, Dell Boomi was not optimally aligned with SAP SuccessFactors requirements, further complicating integration management. Supporting four separate toolsets meant managing multiple teams, inconsistent monitoring, and increased complexity in ensuring seamless system connectivity. 

Recognizing these challenges, the customer sought a unified, future-ready integration strategy that would reduce costs, simplify operations, and support long-term innovation. 

Solution:

Driving Platform Consolidation and Innovation with SAP Integration Suite on SAP BTP 

Incture enabled the customer to transform their integration landscape by establishing SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) as the foundation for innovation. 

At the core of this transformation was the implementation of SAP Integration Suite, along with Advanced Event Mesh and API Management capabilities. The engagement began with a strategic, phased migration approach, starting with the transition from MuleSoft to SAP Integration Suite as the first step toward broader platform consolidation. 

This approach ensured continuity of existing integration capabilities while enabling a seamless transition to a unified platform. By leveraging SAP’s native integration tools, the customer gained access to prepackaged content, standardized integration patterns, and scalable architecture aligned with their SAP ecosystem. 

Additionally, the move to a single Consumption-Based Pricing (CPEA) model helped optimize total cost of ownership, allowing the customer to flexibly allocate resources across various SAP BTP services as needed. 

This transformation laid a strong foundation for future phases, including the migration from Dell Boomi and SAP CPI (Neo), followed by SAP PI/PO as part of their SAP S/4HANA journey.

Results:

Simplifying Operations and Unlocking Future-Ready Integration Capabilities 

The transformation marked a significant step forward in simplifying the customer’s integration landscape and positioning it for future innovation. 

By consolidating multiple platforms into a single, unified integration suite, the customer streamlined operations, reducing the need for multiple support teams and skill sets. This shift enabled a move from four managed services teams to a single, centralized team capable of supporting global operations with greater efficiency. 

The implementation also introduced centralized monitoring capabilities, improving visibility across the integration landscape and enhancing system reliability. With SAP Integration Suite, the customer achieved near-zero downtime during maintenance windows, ensuring uninterrupted business operations. 

Beyond operational efficiency, the new platform enabled the customer to unlock new use cases through API Management, allowing secure exposure of internal APIs and fostering greater ecosystem connectivity. 

From a financial perspective, the decommissioning of legacy platforms resulted in substantial cost savings, with a 75% reduction in software licensing costs, translating to approximately $1.5 million in annual savings. 

With SAP as a trusted part of their landscape for over two decades, this transformation not only addressed immediate challenges but also established a scalable, future-ready integration foundation to support continued digital innovation and growth.Â
